Problem: Loose Skin on Abdomen
Solution: Thermage
Thermage New mothers know the difficulty of getting their "Abs of Steel" back after childbirth. No matter how many sit-ups they do, their stomachs still tend to sag. But now Thermage®, a procedure that first gained fame as a non-invasive facelift, is having great success on saggy and wrinkly tummies. Thermage is a great non-surgical solution for someone looking to regain their post-childbirth shape. Results can be subtle to dramatic. One study shows the reduction around the abdomen can top nearly three inches (7.5cm). It requires just one 1-2 hour session, and results can be immediate. Patients will see the best results between two and six months after the treatment.
Problem: Chloasma (Mask of Pregnancy)
Solution: Fraxel 1927, Obagi New Derm
Chloasma, also called Melasma, is a skin condition of the cheekbones, forehead and upper lip that frequently occurs during pregnancy. Nearly 50% of pregnant women show some signs of the "mask of pregnancy". It is recognizable by dark patches of skin or splotches that are darker than the surrounding skin, creating what may look like a mask. Chloasma may also develop on the nose, chin, lower cheeks and sides of the neck. The dark patches can be any shade from tan to deep brown, usually with distinct edges. The dark patches typically last until the pregnancy ends. If chloasma does not disappear on its own, other treatments and products can reverse or diminish its appearance
Fraxel 1927
The Fraxel 1927 is part of the new Fraxel re:store® Dual Wavelength System-the most innovative advanced laser ever made for cosmetic procedures. This latest technology has combined two lasers in one, with the second being huge to moms dealing with melasma.
The second laser, the 1927, targets skin issues such as brown spots, freckles, and melasma (often referred to as the "mask of pregnancy" caused by hormones). The 1927 can safely be used on the face, neck, chest and even the hands and arms to help remove discoloration when it won't go away by itself
Obagi Nu-Derm® System
The Nu-Derm® System is the physician-dispensed, prescription-strength skincare system that can actually transform your skin at the cellular level. By restoring the healthy function of your skin cells, this system is clinically proven to result in younger- and healthier-looking skin. It can also correct the damage from dark splotches that occur with chloasma.
Using a specific dose and frequency that's recommended specifically for your skin condition, the prescription-strength system exfoliates old skin leaving healthy, new skin that looks and acts younger and healthier, reviving your skin to your pre-pregnancy glow.
Problem: Stretch Marks
Solution: Fraxel re:store
Stretch marks are the most common skin issue women face during pregnancy; Almost 90% of pregnant women will experience stretch marks on their abdomen, breasts, thighs or buttocks during pregnancy. Stretch marks are small, depressed streaks in the skin that appear most often in the later stages of pregnancy when the body is rapidly changing to accommodate a growing baby.
Stretch marks are caused by changes in the elastic supportive tissue just beneath the skin. They start out pink, reddish brown, purple, or dark brown, depending on your skin color. They later fade, although they never totally disappear. There may also be changes in skin texture that are likely permanent without the use of laser treatment.
Fraxel re:store
Using Fraxel re:store, we are able to restore elasticity to tighten sagging skin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks after pregnancy. The Fraxel®Laser targets damaged skin by creating microscopic 'wounds' within the targeted areas. Following each treatment, the body's natural healing process creates new healthy tissue to replace skin imperfections resulting in skin that looks and feels noticeably tighter and smoother.
Problem: Skin Tags
Solution: Electrodessication
Some pregnant women develop tiny polyps, called skin tags, in areas where skin rubs on clothing or skin rubs together. Hormone elevations, such as those seen during pregnancy, may cause an increase in the formation of skin tags, as skin tags are more frequent in pregnant women. Commonly found under the arms, between neck folds, or under bra lines on the chest, skin tags are caused by hyperactive growth of the outermost layer of skin. They may disappear a few months following delivery, but can be easily excised if they bother you or do not go away on their own.
Electrodessication
Electrodessication is a technique used to safely and easily remove skin tags with little risk of scarring. The procedure takes 15-20 minutes and patients return to regular activity immediately. With a small injection of anesthetic, skin tags are easily removed with electrical heat with little to no pain to the patient.
Problem: Spider Veins
Solution: Sclerotherapy
Spider veins, also known as spider nevi, are tiny reddish blood vessels. The increased volume of blood you're carrying while pregnant creates significant pressure on your blood vessels, causing even small veins to swell. Spider veins will usually appear on the face, neck, upper chest and arms. While some women are bothered by their appearance, spider veins do not hurt and usually disappear shortly after delivery.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is the most common way to treat spider veins on the legs after pregnancy. This procedure involves injecting a solution (generally a saline solution) directly into the vein, causing it to collapse and disappear. Sclerotherapy is a well-proven procedure and has been in use since the 1930s to treat spider veins.
Intense Pulsed Light
As mentioned previously, can be used to remove spider veins on the face.
